The Taiwan company Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) is ready to begin mass production of the latest Apple A13 processors for the latest iPhone models. The production lines are already equipped with everything necessary and the chip maker is just waiting for the appropriate order from Apple. This is reported by the Bloomberg publication, citing proven sources in the supply chain.

Production of Apple A13 processors has already begun According to the publication, the new processors will be based on a 7-nm process. The company decided to postpone the key improvements until 2020 – so Apple A13 should not wait for dramatic changes in performance.

Every year, mastering new technological standards is becoming more difficult – modern lithographic technology has reached the limit of density. To achieve new peaks will require a completely different approach. However, the solution was found nevertheless – lithography in the hard ultraviolet range (EUV).

Recall that TSMC executive director Mark Liu said earlier that the company would be able to start mass production of chips based on an improved process. at 5 nm in the first half of 2020. Accordingly, we can see new single-chip systems with low power consumption only in a year.

Apple and TSMC have been cooperating since 2014. Then the American corporation invested about 9 billion dollars in the chip manufacturer. This choice was made for a reason – then Apple was directly dependent on Samsung, which accounted for a significant amount of deliveries. Investments have benefited – now the Taiwanese company is one of the largest manufacturers of processors.
